The 2026 Salon du Chocolat Paris runs October 28 through November 1, 2026, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, with a special opening night on October 27.
If chocolate, French pastry or food-focused travel is your thing, this is an incredibly fun event to build into a fall Paris trip.

🍫 What Is Salon du Chocolat Paris?
Salon du Chocolat began in Paris in 1995 and has since expanded into an international series of chocolate events held around the world.
Paris remains the original.
And this is much more than a chocolate market.
The Paris Salon brings together around 240 exhibitors and more than 100 hours of demonstrations, tastings, workshops and other programming.
You can meet chocolatiers and cocoa producers, watch famous pastry chefs work, learn about cacao origins, taste things you would never find in an ordinary supermarket and shop for chocolate from France and far beyond.
You definitely do not need to know anything about cacao percentages or professional pastry techniques to enjoy it.
Liking chocolate is sufficient qualification.
🎭 What Is Special About the 2026 Salon du Chocolat?
One of the Salon’s most famous traditions is its elaborate chocolate fashion show.
Today, that tradition has evolved into the Show Musical, combining chocolate creations with fashion, singing, dancing, choreography and technology.
For 2026, the production takes on a rock-and-burlesque-inspired atmosphere.
Even if you would normally walk directly past the words “fashion show,” this one is worth seeing.
These are elaborate creations produced through collaborations between chocolate professionals and designers.
It is part pastry art.
Part fashion.
Part theater.
And part wondering how somebody is wearing chocolate without everything going terribly wrong.
🍰 What Should You See at Salon du Chocolat?
You could wander for hours without following a schedule at all, but there are a few major experiences worth knowing about.
👨🍳 Pastry Show
The Pastry Show brings pastry chefs and master chocolatiers onto the stage for live demonstrations.
If the final 2026 chef schedule includes somebody you particularly want to see, use that demonstration as an anchor for your day and explore everything else around it.
🍫 Gourmet Workshops
Hands-on chocolate and pastry workshops are available for adults and children.
Current 2026 workshop pricing begins at:
- Children ages 3–12: €12
- Adults and ages 13+: €25
- Premium adult workshops: €35
Workshops cost extra in addition to Salon admission and should be reserved ahead if one is important to you.
🌍 Destination Cacao
This is where you can learn more about the part of chocolate that begins long before it reaches a Paris pastry shop.
Cocoa producers share different cacao origins, growing traditions, fermentation methods and the early stages of transforming cacao into chocolate.
🍰 Cake Time & Discovery Areas
The Salon also includes specialty pastry areas, international discoveries, elaborate chocolate creations, tastings and plenty of opportunities to simply wander and see what catches your attention.
You do not need to do everything.
Pick a couple of must-sees.
Then follow the chocolate.
📅 When Should You Go?
If your Paris dates are flexible, I would choose Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
Weekday tickets are cheaper, and a weekday is generally the more comfortable choice for exploring a large exhibition.
Saturday and Sunday are still absolutely worth attending if that is when your trip falls.
Just expect the weekend to be busier.
How Long Should You Allow?
Plan at least 3–4 hours.
If you love chocolate, pastry or culinary demonstrations, giving the Salon half a day is completely reasonable.
What About Opening Night?
The special opening night takes place:

It requires a separate ticket.
If you are choosing between opening night and one full Salon day for your first visit, I would choose the full day.

There is also a late-day ticket from 5:00–7:00 PM for €10 adults and €5 children.
The Gold Pass costs €40 weekdays or €45 weekends and includes extras such as priority entrance, complimentary coat check and preferred access to selected attractions.
For most first-time visitors, the regular ticket is perfectly adequate.
I would buy ahead if you are visiting on a weekend, attending opening night or booking a workshop.

You can also use:

Public transportation is generally easier than driving.
Important:
There is a €2 coat check, but suitcases and large bags are not permitted.
There is also no re-entry once you leave, so do not plan to leave for lunch and return later.
🏨 Where to Stay for Salon du Chocolat Paris 2026
You do not have to stay beside Porte de Versailles.
If Salon du Chocolat is only one day of a longer Paris trip, staying somewhere convenient for your entire itinerary may make more sense.
But if the Salon is a major reason for the trip, these hotels make festival day particularly easy.

Family rooms and an extremely convenient location make the Novotel especially practical when attending Salon du Chocolat with children.
Why it works: Less transportation, more space and an easy return to the hotel when everybody has had enough chocolate for one day.
💶 Hotel Paris Vaugirard — Best Mid-Range Choice
A straightforward option for travelers who want comfortable accommodation close to Porte de Versailles without needing lots of extra hotel facilities.
Why it works: Good location, easy festival access and more money left in the Paris budget for things you actually came to do.

🍽️ Eating, Tastings & Chocolate Shopping
YES, there are tastings.
NO, your admission ticket is not an unlimited chocolate buffet.
You will find samples, pastries, chocolates and plenty of things available to purchase, along with savory food such as sandwiches and salads inside Pavilion 5.
Bring both a card and some euros.
There is no ATM inside, and because leaving the Salon ends your visit, withdraw cash before entering if you want it.
For shopping, I would concentrate on things you cannot easily buy at home:
- Artisan chocolates
- Single-origin bars
- Bean-to-bar chocolate
- Pralines and truffles
- Unusual cacao origins
- Limited or seasonal creations
- Gift boxes
And bring a foldable tote.
You may arrive carrying almost nothing.
Chocolate has a way of changing that.
Food Allergies
Chocolate and pastry commonly contain dairy, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy and other allergens.
Ask before accepting samples if you have dietary restrictions or allergies.
👨👩👧👦 Is Salon du Chocolat Good for Kids?
YES.
Children under 6 enter free, discounted child and family tickets are available, and the Salon offers dedicated chocolate and pastry workshops for ages 3–12.
Kids can also enjoy the chocolate displays, live demonstrations, tastings and Show Musical.
For families, I would go earlier in the day and keep the visit flexible rather than trying to stay from opening until closing.

Easy removable layers are your friend.

If you already love chocolate or French pastry?
Absolutely.
But what makes Salon du Chocolat especially fun is that it is more than an excuse to buy dessert.
You can meet the people producing cacao and chocolate, watch some of France’s best pastry talent at work, try things from around the world, take a workshop and see chocolate turned into everything from sculpture to clothing.
And because the event takes place indoors, it is also an incredibly easy thing to add to a late-October Paris trip.
Give yourself several hours.
Do not eat everything at the first stand.
Bring a tote.
And accept that you may leave Paris Expo Porte de Versailles with considerably more chocolate than you originally intended.
There are worse travel problems to have.
