Where to Stay in Hoi An, Vietnam: Best Hotels for Every Kind of Trip

Best hotels in Hoi An Vietnam

Golden-yellow buildings glow beneath strings of lanterns, bicycles roll past old shopfronts, boats move along the river after dark, and some of Central Vietnam’s prettiest beaches sit only a short trip away.

Hoi An is one of those destinations where the hotel can completely change the feel of the trip.

You can stay close to the Ancient Town and spend your evenings wandering out for dinner, shopping, riverside walks, and the Night Market. You can retreat to a resort surrounded by gardens and pools. Or you can move closer to the coast and build beach time into the trip without giving up Hoi An altogether.

That variety is exactly why I would not choose one “best hotel in Hoi An” for everybody.

A couple planning a romantic city break may want something completely different from a family that needs pools and children’s facilities. Solo travelers benefit enormously from being able to walk to food and attractions. Friends may prefer a beach resort where the hotel itself becomes part of the fun, while honeymooners may want something polished enough to turn slow mornings and evenings at the hotel into part of the trip.

Hoi An also works beautifully as part of a larger Vietnam itinerary. If you are still deciding where else to go, see Best Places to Visit in Vietnam. For the rest of your planning, I also has seasonal Vietnam packing guides for Spring, Summer and Fall and a complete plug and voltage guide.

This guide breaks down the best hotels in Hoi An by traveler type so you can choose the property that actually fits the trip you are taking.

Best Hotel in Hoi An for Couples

Hoi An is almost unfairly good for couples.

You can spend the morning wandering through the old streets, stop somewhere for coffee or lunch, retreat to the hotel during the hotter part of the day, and head back toward the river once the lanterns begin coming on.

For an ordinary couples trip, I want romance without forcing you into honeymoon-level spending or isolating you at a resort far away from everything you came to Hoi An to see.

My Pick: Little Riverside. A Luxury Hotel & Spa

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 5-star property
  • Area: Hoi An City Centre
  • Orientation: Useful for central Hoi An, the river, Ancient Town sightseeing, restaurants, shopping, evening walks, and travelers who want to explore without giving up a polished hotel
  • Best for: Couples, anniversaries, romantic trips, first-time Hoi An visitors, travelers who want central sightseeing and hotel downtime, and couples who appreciate spa and pool facilities
  • Hotel style: Five-star riverside hotel with rooftop pool, breakfast, spa, restaurant, Wi-Fi, bicycles, and a quieter setting close to Hoi An’s central attractions

Little Riverside is my couples pick because it lands in that very useful space between city hotel and romantic resort.

You are not disappearing to a beach property where every trip into Hoi An requires planning.

At the same time, you are not sacrificing the little things that make a couples hotel feel special.

There is a rooftop pool overlooking the river, a spa for slower afternoons, breakfast at the hotel, and bicycles available for exploring. Expedia lists the property as a genuine five-star hotel in Hoi An City Centre.

That makes it particularly appealing when you are not trying to schedule every hour.

Spend half the day sightseeing.

Come back and swim.

Book a spa treatment.

Take a nap.

Then head out again once Hoi An changes from daytime sightseeing destination into lantern-lit evening town.

That flexibility is exactly what I want for a regular romantic trip.

The Four Seasons is significantly more of a resort experience and Anantara is my honeymoon winner, but neither is necessary simply because two people are traveling together.

I’d choose Little Riverside. A Luxury Hotel & Spa for a couples trip when you want a five-star riverside stay, rooftop pool, spa, breakfast, and easy access to central Hoi An without turning an ordinary romantic vacation into an enormous resort splurge.

Best Hotel in Hoi An for Solo Travelers

Solo travel becomes easier when your hotel reduces the number of small decisions you have to make every day.

Location matters.

You do not have another person watching the luggage while you figure something out, navigating while you check directions, or splitting transportation costs every time you want to go somewhere.

Being able to walk out of the hotel and immediately have things to do is valuable.

My Pick: The Signature Hoi An

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 4-star property
  • Area: Minh An
  • Orientation: Useful for Hoi An Night Market, Chua Cau, Song Hoai Square, Central Market, restaurants, shopping, riverside evenings, and exploring central Hoi An on foot
  • Best for: Solo travelers, first-time Hoi An visitors, independent travelers, shorter stays, travelers without a rental vehicle, and anyone who prioritizes walkability
  • Hotel style: Four-star hotel with breakfast, outdoor pool, garden, spa, restaurant, Wi-Fi, concierge service, luggage storage, and laundry services

The Signature Hoi An is an unusually clean fit for the solo category.

Hoi An Night Market is only about a two-minute walk away, while Chua Cau and Song Hoai Square are roughly seven minutes away on foot. Central Market is also within walking distance.

That is fantastic when you are traveling alone.

You can go out for dinner without organizing transportation.

You can wander through the Night Market and head back whenever you are finished.

You can walk around central Hoi An during the day, return to the hotel for a break, and go back out later without feeling as though every outing needs to become a full-day expedition.

The hotel itself is comfortable enough that choosing convenience does not mean giving up amenities.

There is an outdoor pool, breakfast, a garden, spa services, Wi-Fi, a restaurant, concierge assistance, and luggage storage.

That last one is especially useful when arrival and departure times do not line up perfectly with check-in.

The Signature is not my choice for someone whose vision of Hoi An revolves primarily around beach days.

Palm Garden or KA Villa would make more sense for that trip.

For a solo traveler coming primarily to experience Hoi An itself, however, I would rather have this location.

I’d choose The Signature Hoi An if you are traveling solo and want a four-star hotel with breakfast, pool, spa, Wi-Fi, and one of the easiest locations in this lineup for exploring Hoi An independently on foot.

Best Hotel in Hoi An for Friend Trips

Friend trips need somewhere that works even when the group temporarily stops functioning as one organism.

Someone wants breakfast early.

Someone wants to sleep.

Someone wants the beach.

Someone wants a massage.

Someone announces they are absolutely not moving again until dinner.

A good friend-trip hotel gives everybody choices without making the group feel scattered.

My Pick: Palm Garden Beach Resort & Spa

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 4.5-star property
  • Area: Cam An
  • Orientation: Useful for beach days, resort downtime, trips into Hoi An, groups combining sightseeing with relaxation, and friends who want both activities and somewhere fun to stay
  • Best for: Friend trips, beach-focused groups, celebrations, longer stays, mixed-interest groups, and travelers who want resort facilities without abandoning Hoi An
  • Hotel style: 4.5-star private-beach resort with breakfast, pool, hot tub, full-service spa, restaurants, beachfront areas, and resort-style recreation

Palm Garden wins because it gives the group something the central hotels cannot: a private beach resort experience.

That changes the rhythm of the trip.

You do not have to plan an activity simply because everybody is awake.

Friends can meet at the beach, sit beside the pool, go to the spa, eat at the resort, or split up for part of the day and meet again later.

The resort lists breakfast, a private beach, pool, hot tub, spa, and restaurants among its major facilities.

That is particularly useful for a group spending several days in Hoi An.

Not every day needs to be another tightly organized sightseeing schedule.

One day can be almost entirely Hoi An.

Another can be a beach day.

Another can involve a tour or excursion.

And if the weather, energy levels, or collective motivation collapse, you still have a resort worth spending time at.

Room configuration needs attention on any friend trip.

Never assume that a room described as sleeping three or four people automatically has the number and type of beds everybody expects.

Check the exact room.

Sometimes two rooms are considerably better than trying to save money by putting everyone together.

Privacy, bathrooms, luggage, different sleep schedules, and getting-ready time can become much more important by day four than they sounded while booking.

I’d choose Palm Garden Beach Resort & Spa for a friend trip when you want a private beach, pool, hot tub, spa, restaurants, breakfast, and enough resort atmosphere to let everybody enjoy the trip even when the group temporarily wants different things.

Best Hotel in Hoi An for Families

Family trips are where resort amenities stop looking frivolous and start solving problems.

A pool can save an afternoon.

Breakfast can save the morning.

A playground can buy parents another hour before everyone needs a completely new plan.

A hotel that gives children somewhere to decompress after sightseeing can make the entire trip easier.

My Pick: La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 5-star property
  • Area: Thanh Ha
  • Orientation: Useful for family trips that combine Hoi An sightseeing with substantial hotel downtime
  • Best for: Families, multigenerational trips, longer stays, families with pool-loving children, parents who want activities onsite, and travelers who prefer a full resort
  • Hotel style: Five-star resort with four outdoor pools, children’s pool, children’s club, playground, babysitting options, breakfast, spa, gym, bicycles, refrigerator access, and extensive resort facilities

La Siesta is my family winner because it gives parents a ridiculous number of backup plans without needing to leave the property.

There are four outdoor pools plus a children’s pool.

There is a playground.

There is a children’s club.

Babysitting is available for an additional charge, and rooms include refrigerators.

That creates flexibility.

You can spend the morning sightseeing and return when everyone has had enough.

One child can swim.

Another can play.

Parents can deliberately leave an afternoon unstructured instead of trying to squeeze another temple, market, shop, or excursion into a day that has clearly reached its natural conclusion.

Breakfast being available at the resort also simplifies mornings.

There is no need to begin every day by getting the entire family dressed, organized, packed, and out the door before anyone has eaten.

Families should still examine room categories carefully.

Check maximum occupancy, bed configuration, connecting-room possibilities, crib availability, bathroom layout, and whether the room will still feel comfortable once everyone’s luggage is inside.

A beautiful hotel does not magically make one small room comfortable for a family of four.

I’d choose La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa when your family wants pools, children’s facilities, breakfast, spa amenities, bicycles, and enough resort infrastructure to make a slow day feel intentional rather than like sightseeing plans fell apart.

Best Hoi An Hotel for Older Travelers and Lower Mobility

Mobility requirements should change the hotel search.

This category cannot simply mean “a nice hotel with an elevator.”

The route into the property matters.

The bathroom matters.

The path from the room to breakfast matters.

Wheelchair access to restaurants and common areas matters.

And individual accessibility needs should always be confirmed directly with the hotel before booking.

My Pick: Moire Hoi An, Vignette Collection by IHG

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 5-star property
  • Area: Cam Nam
  • Orientation: Riverside location useful for central Hoi An, Ancient Town sightseeing, quieter hotel downtime, and guests who want major hotel facilities without being far removed from the city
  • Best for: Older travelers, lower-mobility travelers, wheelchair users, multigenerational trips, guests who need an elevator, and travelers who prioritize accessibility details
  • Hotel style: Five-star riverside hotel with elevator, entrance ramp, roll-in shower options, wheelchair-accessible parking, pool, registration desk and restaurant, plus resort amenities and dining

Moire is my strongest choice because Expedia actually lists specific accessibility features rather than simply attaching a vague accessibility symbol to the property.

There is an elevator.

The front entrance has a ramp.

In-room roll-in showers are listed.

Wheelchair-accessible parking, pool access, registration desk access, and restaurant access are also listed.

That does not mean every room works for every traveler.

Call the property before booking if accessibility is essential.

Discuss the exact room category.

Ask about doorway width, bathroom layout, grab bars if required, shower access, bed height, distance from the elevator, and the route between the room and the places you expect to use most often.

Moire also works for travelers who do not use mobility equipment but simply tire more easily.

Its Cam Nam riverfront position keeps guests close to central Hoi An while giving them a comfortable five-star property to retreat to.

You can build more rest into the trip without feeling as though staying at the hotel means wasting the day.

I’d choose Moire Hoi An, Vignette Collection by IHG when mobility matters and you want an elevator, entrance ramp, roll-in shower options, wheelchair-accessible public facilities, a riverside setting, and a genuine five-star hotel close enough to keep enjoying Hoi An without unnecessary physical logistics.

Best Luxury Hotel in Hoi An

Luxury should actually be luxury.

It is not simply whichever hotel happens to cost the most on the dates you search.

For this category I want a genuine five-star property with an experience that feels meaningfully different from the rest of the lineup.

My Pick: Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 5-star property
  • Area: Coastal Dien Ban / Ha My Beach area
  • Orientation: Useful for private-beach vacations, major celebrations, luxury resort stays, spa trips, couples, and travelers who want Hoi An access without making city sightseeing the entire vacation
  • Best for: Luxury travelers, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, high-end family trips, major celebrations, resort lovers, and travelers who want the hotel itself to be one of the trip highlights
  • Hotel style: Five-star private-beach Four Seasons resort with beachfront dining, spa facilities, three restaurants, beach and pool amenities, fitness facilities, yoga, recreation, and extensive resort grounds

The Four Seasons is the luxury pick because there is no need to manufacture a reason.

It is a genuine five-star Four Seasons on the coast.

The resort has a private beach, beachfront dining, spa treatments, three restaurants, a beach bar, poolside bar, health club, yoga and fitness classes, and recreational activities.

This is a completely different trip from staying at The Signature and spending almost every waking hour wandering central Hoi An.

And that is the point.

You may still go into Hoi An.

You should.

But at this level, there should also be days when returning to the hotel early feels like part of the vacation rather than surrendering sightseeing time.

Spend the morning exploring.

Come back to the coast.

Have lunch.

Go to the spa.

Spend the afternoon by the water.

Have dinner at the resort.

Luxury should buy you the freedom to stop doing things.

Room category matters enormously at properties like this.

Look carefully at the exact accommodation, view, private outdoor space, occupancy, included meals or benefits, and cancellation conditions before paying luxury-resort rates.

Do not assume the dramatic accommodation featured most prominently in the photography is the room attached to the first price you see.

I’d choose Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An for a true luxury trip when a private beach, spa, beachfront dining, multiple restaurants, extensive resort facilities, and a polished five-star experience are worth making a significant part of the travel budget.

Best Mid-Range Hotel in Hoi An

Mid-range is about price position, not star rating.

Hoi An is a fantastic example of why those two things cannot be treated as interchangeable.

You can sometimes find an extremely polished resort sitting in the middle of the local price market.

My Pick: Bel Marina Hoi An Resort

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 5-star property
  • Area: Cam Pho
  • Orientation: Useful for Thu Bon River, Hoi An Night Market, central sightseeing, evening walks, restaurants, shopping, and travelers who want substantial resort facilities without moving into top-end luxury pricing
  • Best for: Mid-range travelers, couples, families, first-time visitors, longer stays, and travelers who want a lot of hotel for the money
  • Hotel style: Five-star riverwalk resort with two outdoor pools, children’s pool, breakfast, spa, two restaurants, poolside bars, gardens, playground, Wi-Fi, and Hoi An Night Market nearby

Bel Marina might be my favorite value surprise in this entire lineup.

Expedia lists it as a five-star property, but the rate you found puts it firmly into the middle of our Hoi An price range rather than anywhere near Four Seasons territory.

That is exactly why I prefer judging mid-range locally.

The property sits on the riverwalk and is within a short walk of the Thu Bon River and Hoi An Night Market.

There are two outdoor pools and a children’s pool.

Breakfast is included.

There are two restaurants, poolside bars, a spa, gardens, and a playground.

That is a substantial amount of hotel for someone who is not trying to book the cheapest room available but also has absolutely no intention of paying Four Seasons prices.

It is also central enough that you do not have to sacrifice Hoi An itself in exchange for resort amenities.

That combination is what wins the category.

I’d choose Bel Marina Hoi An Resort when you want pools, breakfast, spa facilities, restaurants, riverside surroundings, and easy access to Hoi An Night Market while keeping the hotel budget in the middle of Hoi An’s market rather than at the luxury-resort extreme.

Best Budget Hotel in Hoi An

Budget should actually save money.

You do not need a hotel to pretend to be luxurious simply because it has nice reviews.

The goal is a comfortable private stay with useful amenities in a location that still supports the trip.

My Pick: KA Villa & Spa, Beachside Hoi An

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 3-star property
  • Area: Cam An near An Bang Beach
  • Orientation: Useful for beach time, inexpensive Hoi An stays, travelers combining sightseeing and the coast, longer budget trips, and anyone who prefers a quieter beachside base
  • Best for: Budget travelers, couples watching costs, solo travelers, longer trips, beach lovers, and travelers who want more amenities than the room rate suggests
  • Hotel style: Three-star beachside hotel with breakfast, outdoor pool, garden, spa services, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, parking, and An Bang Beach nearby

KA Villa is exactly the kind of budget discovery I love.

It is inexpensive without looking like you have to sacrifice the entire vacation to achieve the lower room rate.

Expedia lists it as a three-star property near An Bang Beach with an outdoor pool, breakfast, garden, spa services, Wi-Fi, and laundry facilities.

That is a lot for a budget category.

The biggest trade-off is location.

This is the beachside pick.

If your absolute priority is walking to the Night Market every evening, The Signature is considerably better positioned for that.

KA Villa makes more sense when you actively like the idea of being near the beach and are comfortable arranging transportation when you want to spend time in central Hoi An.

For a longer Vietnam trip, laundry facilities are another quiet advantage.

There is always a point where being able to wash things easily becomes considerably more exciting than another decorative hotel amenity.

I’d choose KA Villa & Spa, Beachside Hoi An when you want a genuinely inexpensive private hotel with breakfast, pool, spa services, garden, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and easy access to An Bang Beach.

Best Hotel in Hoi An for Honeymooners 💕

A honeymoon hotel should feel different from a regular couples hotel.

You are allowed to care about atmosphere.

You are allowed to spend half the afternoon at the hotel.

You are allowed to book a spa treatment, take an unnecessarily long breakfast, swim, nap, have drinks, and decide that sightseeing can resume tomorrow.

The hotel should help create those days.

My Pick: Anantara Hoi An Resort

Quick facts:

  • Star rating: 5-star property
  • Area: Hoi An City Centre
  • Orientation: Useful for Central Market, Ancient Town sightseeing, restaurants, shopping, romantic evenings, and couples who want both resort amenities and easy access to central Hoi An
  • Best for: Honeymooners, anniversaries, milestone romantic trips, couples who want spa time, and travelers who do not want to choose between a romantic resort and Hoi An itself
  • Hotel style: Five-star resort with outdoor pool, full-service spa, breakfast, three restaurants, poolside bar, terrace, yoga, art gallery, bicycles, garden and river-view room options

Anantara wins the honeymoon category because it gives couples a stronger sense of occasion without pulling them completely away from Hoi An.

Central Market is only a short walk away, while the Night Market and Chua Cau remain within walking distance.

That matters.

A honeymoon in Hoi An should still feel like a honeymoon in Hoi An.

You can spend the day exploring, come back to the resort, swim, book spa treatments, relax on the terrace, or have dinner without immediately needing another plan.

The property includes an outdoor pool, full-service spa, three restaurants, breakfast, yoga, bicycles, an art gallery, and river-view room categories.

Room choice is especially important for a honeymoon.

If you are spending more because this is a special trip, pay attention to what actually makes the room special.

Look at the view.

Look at the outdoor space.

Look at the bathroom.

Look at whether the room category has river or garden surroundings.

Do not upgrade simply because a room has a more dramatic name.

Little Riverside remains my stronger pick for an ordinary romantic couples trip.

Anantara is where I would spend more when the hotel experience itself is part of what you are celebrating.

I’d choose Anantara Hoi An Resort for a honeymoon when you want a five-star romantic stay with a pool, spa, restaurants, breakfast, gardens, river-view possibilities, and central Hoi An close enough that you never have to choose between resort time and actually experiencing the destination.

Short Packing List for Hoi An

Hoi An days can involve tropical sun, humidity, rain, long walks, bicycle rides, markets, restaurants, riverside evenings, beach trips, pools, boat rides, and full sightseeing days.

A few practical items can make the trip considerably easier:

  • Lightweight day bag for water, medication, sunscreen, electronics, purchases, and everyday necessities
  • Small crossbody bag with secure closures for markets, restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, and busy travel days
  • Portable charger for maps, photographs, translation tools, hotel communication, tickets, and long days away from your room
  • Refillable water bottle for sightseeing, beach days, tours, bicycle rides, and longer excursions
  • Compact umbrella for sudden rain and strong sun
  • Sunglasses for beaches, bright streets, pool time, and outdoor sightseeing
  • Sunscreen for tropical sun exposure
  • Insect repellent for gardens, evenings, riverside areas, countryside excursions, and outdoor dining
  • Waterproof phone pouch for beach days, boats, pools, sudden rain, and water activities
  • Dry bag for keeping electronics and valuables protected around beaches, boats, pools, and wet-weather excursions
  • Hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes for markets, sightseeing, transportation, tours, and meals on the go
  • Wet wipes for humidity, beach trips, travel days, and quick cleanups
  • Travel tissues or handkerchiefs for restrooms, spills, humidity, allergies, and everyday use
  • Lip balm for sun, air conditioning, flights, beach days, and long hours outside

Final Thoughts: Choosing the Right Hotel in Hoi An

Choose Little Riverside. A Luxury Hotel & Spa for a romantic couples trip when you want a five-star riverside hotel with rooftop pool, spa, breakfast, and central Hoi An close at hand.

Choose The Signature Hoi An for a solo trip when walkability matters and you want Hoi An Night Market, restaurants, central sightseeing, breakfast, pool, spa, and Wi-Fi close together.

Choose Palm Garden Beach Resort & Spa for a friend trip when a private beach, pool, hot tub, spa, restaurants, and resort downtime sound just as important as sightseeing.

Choose La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa for families when four pools, a children’s pool, children’s club, playground, breakfast, and extensive resort facilities can make the logistics of traveling with children considerably easier.

Choose Moire Hoi An, Vignette Collection by IHG for older travelers or guests with lower mobility when an elevator, entrance ramp, roll-in shower options, wheelchair-accessible facilities, and a five-star riverside setting are priorities.

Choose Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An for true luxury when you want a private beach, spa, beachfront dining, multiple restaurants, extensive resort facilities, and a hotel that deserves an entire portion of the vacation.

Choose Bel Marina Hoi An Resort for a mid-range trip when you want an unusually upscale five-star resort experience, pools, breakfast, spa, restaurants, riverside surroundings, and easy access to Hoi An Night Market without moving into ultra-luxury pricing.

Choose KA Villa & Spa, Beachside Hoi An for a budget trip when you want an inexpensive private hotel near An Bang Beach with breakfast, pool, garden, spa services, Wi-Fi, and laundry facilities.

Choose Anantara Hoi An Resort for a honeymoon when you want five-star surroundings, pool and spa time, restaurants, river-view possibilities, and central Hoi An close enough that the destination remains part of the romance.

Hoi An is particularly good at giving travelers choices.

You can make the hotel a convenient base.

You can make it part of the vacation.

You can stay beside the old streets and river.

You can stay closer to the beach.

You can spend very little or turn the trip into a genuine luxury escape.

The best choice is not the hotel with the longest list of amenities.

It is the one that supports the version of Hoi An you actually want to experience.
